  • Detailed document review;

  • Preparation of tax schedules;

  • Tax return finalisation;

  • ATO objection or dispute advice;

  • Migration, legal or financial advice;

If you choose to proceed after the consultation, the quoted service fee must be paid before we commence preparation of your income tax return, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We do not prepare or lodge tax returns before the required payment, forms, identity verification and documents are received.

5

When We Start Preparing Your Tax Return

Tax NextGen will only commence preparation of your tax return once:

  • You have accepted the quoted service fee;

  • Payment has been received;

  • Any required Tax Agent Appointment Form has been completed;

  • Identity verification requirements have been satisfied;

  • Your Tax File Number, date of birth and other required personal details have been provided;

  • All documents and information requested by our team have been provided; and

  • Any queries raised by our team have been answered.

If your matter includes complex items such as ABN income, rental property, capital gains, shares, crypto, foreign income, Medicare levy exemption, or visa changes, we may require additional documents before preparing or finalising your return.

Any tax estimate provided during the consultation is preliminary only and may change after we receive and review all relevant information, documents and ATO pre-fill data.

6

Tax Estimates and Refunds

Your final tax outcome may be affected by factors including:

  • ATO pre-fill data;

  • Income reported by employers, banks, Centrelink, share registries, brokers, crypto platforms or investment platforms;

  • ABN, sole trader or contractor income;

  • Rental property income and expenses;

  • Capital gains or losses;

  • HELP/HECS, SFSS or other repayment obligations;

  • Medicare levy or Medicare levy surcharge;

  • Spouse income and dependent information;

  • Prior-year tax debts or outstanding lodgments;

  • Centrelink, child support or other government debts;

  • ATO reviews, audits or adjustments;

  • Incorrect, incomplete or late information provided by you;

  • Changes in law or ATO administrative treatment.

Tax NextGen does not guarantee any refund amount.

The final assessment is issued by the Australian Taxation Office after lodgment.

Any refund may be reduced or offset by the ATO or other government agencies for existing debts, including ATO debts, Centrelink debts, child support debts, HELP/HECS repayments or other obligations.

Tax NextGen is not responsible for refund reductions, offsets, ATO delays, ATO adjustments, or government debt recovery actions.

7

Fees and Payment

Our fees will be explained to you before we proceed with preparing your tax return.

Payment of the quoted service fee is required before we commence preparation of your tax return, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Fees paid to Tax NextGen are for professional services provided and are not contingent on receiving a tax refund.

We do not guarantee that you will receive a refund.

We do not deduct our fees from your tax refund unless expressly agreed in writing.

Tax agent fees may be deductible in a future income year, subject to Australian tax law and your individual circumstances.

Additional fees may apply where:

  • Your return is more complex than initially advised;

  • You have ABN, rental property, CGT, shares, crypto or foreign income;

  • Additional schedules are required;

  • You request changes after work has started;

  • You request an amendment after lodgment;

  • You require prior-year returns;

  • You require Medicare levy exemption assistance;

  • You require support with ATO reviews, audits, objections or debt matters;

  • You provide incomplete or incorrect information requiring additional work.

We will advise you where additional fees apply.

8

Refunds and Cancellations

If you cancel before we commence work, we may provide a refund less any payment processing costs, administrative costs, or other costs already incurred.

Once we have commenced work, including reviewing your information, accessing ATO records, reviewing documents, preparing schedules, preparing your tax return, or communicating with you about your return, fees may be non-refundable to the extent professional work has already been performed.

A refund will not be provided merely because:

  • Your tax refund estimate changes;

  • You receive a lower refund than expected;

  • You have a tax payable amount;

  • The ATO offsets your refund against government debts;

  • You change your mind after work has commenced;

  • You fail to provide required documents;

  • You decide not to proceed after we have started work;

  • The ATO delays, reviews or adjusts your return.

Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law.

10

Tax Agent Appointment Form and Identity Verification

Before we provide tax agent services, new clients may be required to complete a Tax Agent Appointment Form and provide identity verification documents.

Providing TFN and identity information through our secure online forms helps us match your ATO records correctly and reduce the risk of incorrect lodgment.

11

Privacy, TFN Information and Confidentiality

We collect and handle personal information, including TFNs, identity documents, contact details, financial information, bank details and tax records, for the purpose of providing tax agent services and related support.

These timeframes are estimates only.

Processing times may vary during peak tax season, where ATO systems are delayed, where further information is required, or where your matter is more complex than initially advised.

If you do not provide requested information in a timely manner, your return may be delayed.

13

Phone Consultations, Missed Calls and Rescheduling

Most consultations are conducted by phone.

Your consultant will call you at the scheduled appointment time using the contact number provided at booking.

You are responsible for ensuring that your phone is available, charged, has reception, and is able to receive calls at the scheduled time.

If you miss your scheduled phone consultation, you may receive a reschedule link by SMS or email.

We may reschedule or delay your appointment if:

  • You are unavailable at the booked time;

  • Your TFN or identity documents have not been provided;

  • ATO pre-fill information is not available;

  • Required documents are missing;

By booking a consultation or engaging our services, you consent to receiving service-related communications from us by phone, email, SMS, online forms, document collection links, electronic signing platforms and other business communication systems.

You are responsible for checking your inbox, spam/junk folder, SMS messages and any links sent to you.

You must notify us promptly if your email address, phone number, postal address or other contact details change.

Where you email us about an existing matter, you should include your Job Number so our team can match your enquiry to your file.

  • ATO pre-fill information is not available;

  • Required documents are missing;

During peak tax season, appointment availability may be limited.

The free 15-minute consultation is generally offered once per client unless otherwise agreed by Tax NextGen.

Once your tax return is prepared, we will send it to you for review and electronic signing.

You must carefully review your tax return before signing.

This includes checking:

  • Your personal details;

  • TFN and date of birth;

  • Bank account details;

  • Income;

  • Deductions;

  • Spouse and dependent details;

  • Private health insurance information;

By electronically signing your tax return, you confirm that:

We will not lodge your tax return until you have provided the required signed declaration or electronic lodgment authority.

Once a return has been lodged, changes may require an amendment and additional fees may apply.

You are responsible for providing correct bank account details for any tax refund.

You must check your bank account details carefully before signing your tax return.

Once a tax return is lodged, bank details may not be able to be changed through us.

Tax NextGen is not responsible for delays, failed payments, lost refunds or other issues arising from incorrect bank account details provided by you.

If a refund is rejected or redirected due to incorrect bank details, you may need to deal directly with the ATO or your financial institution.

After lodgment, the ATO controls the processing of your tax return.

The ATO processes many electronically lodged individual tax returns within approximately 2 weeks. In our experience, many clients receive refunds within approximately 7–10 business days after lodgment, but this is not guaranteed.

Delays may occur where:

  • The ATO reviews your return;

  • The ATO requests further information;

  • You have outstanding prior-year tax returns;

  • You have debts with the ATO or other government agencies;

  • Your refund is offset against other debts;

  • Identity verification is required;

  • Bank details are incorrect;

  • Information does not match ATO records;

  • ATO systems or processing times are delayed;

  • Your return includes complex claims or schedules.

Tax NextGen is not responsible for ATO processing delays, ATO reviews, refund offsets, amended assessments, or ATO decisions.

If you later identify missing information, incorrect information, or request changes after lodgment, an amendment may be required.

Additional fees may apply for:

  • Amending a lodged tax return;

  • Preparing additional schedules;

  • Reviewing complex documents;

  • Responding to ATO reviews or audits;

  • Preparing Medicare levy exemption applications;

  • Preparing prior-year returns;

  • Reviewing ABN, rental, CGT, share or crypto records;

  • Providing additional written advice;

  • Assisting with ATO debts, payment plans, objections or disputes.

We will advise you where additional fees apply.

Unless expressly included in your quote, post-lodgment support, ATO audit support, amendment work, objection work and debt negotiation work are not included in the original tax return preparation fee.
